Cohabitation

More and more unmarried couples are deciding to live together (cohabit) and often when these relationships breakdown, a dispute arises with regards to the ownership of the property.

Even if the property is only owned by one of the parties, it could be that the other party believes that they have an interest in the property that needs to be recognised.

We can pursue negotiations in order to try and resolve any disputes and if this is not successful then court proceedings can be issued. We will therefore provide you with all the advice that you need and can assist you in drafting any agreements that are necessary or making your application to the court.

It has also become more popular for cohabiting couples to enter into a cohabitation agreement now prior to any breakdown of the relationship. This assists the parties if there was a breakdown in communication at a later date.
